Your dog may be a Millionaire!
In real life, Leona Helmsley may have been known as the ‘Queen of Mean’ But you’ll never hear a dog make that claim! Leona’s willed $5 to $8 billion dollars to be used for ‘the care and welfare of dogs’. That’s a lot of doggy dough! Does this mean your pooch might be receiving some loot?
Well, you may not want to empty the dog treat isle of your local grocery quite yet. The trustee’s of Leona’s estate will distributing the funds as they see fit. A loophole doesn’t guarantee the total amount will be going to the dogs. Her request to have the money is not legally binding, and the trustees could earmark the monies towards other purposes. Dog-gone-it!
This isn’t the first lump sum Helmsley left for the canines. She willed $12 million to her dog named Trouble. Unfortunately, a court reduced this reward to a measly $2 million.
